The Dark Desires of the Druids: The Tryst by Isabel Roman

www.ravenousromance.com/ravenous-rendezvous/the-dark-desires-of-the-druids-the-tryst.php

This second Ravenous short story was a much better read than my first attempt, luckily.

This is apparently a prequel to a series I might actually be interested in following further.

The story is well written and has well placed hints at how the story will progress, but nothing to obvious. A lot of time is spent on building the back story and characters and not just getting the main characters naked and breathing heavy.

There were a few grammatical issues, and added word here and there, and the always present incorrectly spelled word or two.

"How do I reconnect with the woman willing to kiss a practical strange?"

The biggest issue was the mix up of the main character's name, (oops!), which in real life most likely would have caused a hell of a big hoopla.

Close to the end of the story things go wild and become completely unrealistic. I was kind of disappointed. As in most short stories the flow and control that is so cautiously created at the beginning is lost in the huge rush to find the ending.

I would like to see what the author could do when given the full length of a novel to work with. I do also hope however that she has a careful editor available to comb through all the details.

The Mile High Club by Ryan Field

www.ravenousromance.com/free-short-story/the-mile-high-club.php?flypage=0

This is the first free Ravenous (www.ravenousromance.com) story I have downloaded. I figured it was free...why not give it a try?

I know now why it was offered as a freebie.

First of all let me say I enjoyed the characters. They were pretty solid and believable, especially the husband. I think some of their actions were completely over-the-top and very hard to swallow (pardon the pun). The sentence structure was often very awkward with small words missing here and there, ruining the flow of the story. This could have been easily fixed with a good editor.

I found the title to be very misleading as well, but that could just be a matter of opinion on what “The Mile High Club” represents.

Luckily it was a short story, and therefore a very quick read. I had time to finish it before I even had to switch from the streetcar to the subway. This left me plenty of time to get in some really good reading before having to make dinner for my family.

I think Ravenous needs to be a little more careful. If the point is to draw readers in with good quality free teasers, they perhaps need to search harder for the hidden gems.

This offering from Ravenous looks intriguing, but the spelling slip in the description sends shivers down my spine already (and no, not the good kind!)

“Rapacious citizens exuberantly bid for hers virginity.”

*shudder*
